Work methodology

I am convinced that having a tactical analyst is essential for any elite coaching staff. I also understand that not all coaches have the same way of working, so for me is very important be capable to adapt to different styles of work.

My main function is buying time for the coach so that he can focus on planning training, diagramming the next game tactics, evaluating the players, interacting with the football structure and communicating with the press.

As an analyst I must work in four main focuses:

Trainings

Record, dissect, analyze and organize them in an internal database.

Own team

Analyze our matches and compare the conclusions with the rest of the coaching staff to put together the final video that the players will see; know in detail each player, what is worked on during the week, what are the strengths and the concerns about the team.

Opponent

Have the report of the next opponent finished (having analyzed at least 4 to 6 games) at the end of our previous meeting, providing a precise breakdown of patterns, strengths and weaknesses.

Scouting

Follow up the players who are of interest to the coaching staff and track and analyze (data and images) transfers.

My skills include the knowledge of all the necessary technological tools for my work, but I’m permanently learning everything about the game.

I think my main asset is to be up-to-date regarding the tactical performance of the teams in the different leagues, to know in detail the players, coaches, the functioning of the systems (strengths, weaknesses and their oppositions) and to know how to capture these ideas in visual content to provide a complementary vision to the work group.

Statistics are a necessary and indispensable supplement to better understand what is happening in the pitch. But, like everything else, they must be previously processed, analyzed and related to the images so they make sense for the coaching staff.

My experience in the world of data certify my ability to generate reports according to the coach’s needs, which include the elaboration of own metrics to evaluate our team and the tournaments we play.

The excess of information leads to information overload and I have to help the coaching staff to minimize the margin of error and to give tools for better decision-making.
